Complete cast and technical information available at Internet Movie Database Mouse Hunt Page.

Production began March 3, 1997 in Los Angeles and Fresno, California.

Described as "a high energy comedy", and "a cross between Dumb & Dumber and Jumanji", the comedy pits the two main characters (Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) against a mouse (the world's smartest, meanest, and most sadistic mouse, of all things) for residential rights to a valuable, historical mansion inherited by the brothers.

Animation and effects studio Rhythm & Hues of Marina del Ray provide a "photorealistic mouse and cat" for integration with the live action.

Nathan has described the film as "sort of Laurel and Hardy meets Terry Gilliam meets 'It's a Mad, Mad World.  I guess in Hollywood they would describe it as 'Home Alone' with a mouse."

Nathan & Lee and a thousand mouse traps

Vicki Lewis has said (of Mouse Hunt and Godzilla): "I'm sort of a newcomer to films, so I don't know what to look for in a script. Both movies I've done on this hiatus [from News Radio] have been all-nighters, all rain and lots of mud."

The film was released December 19.
