Nathan Lane
Actor and former Tony Awards host
The Tonys are sort of like Christmas. You think, "Oh boy, Christmas is
coming!" Then it gets there and you think, "Oh, this is Christmas."
The problem with the Tonys is that there isn't much to nominate so they
end up going: "It's a lamp. No, it's a play. Nominate it! My Aunt Rifka,
she's pretty funny. Nominate her!"
Then they go to put on a show. Sometimes there are worthy people and
occasionally the right people get the nominations. But every year there
are these discussions. So maybe they should change a little bit. Society is
changing -- same-sex marriage and all. We've got to bend the rules a
little bit.
The show itself is always going to have problems. But what are you going
to do? Have an open bar? Lap dances during the less important
categories?
I think it's fine. Really, life is too short to worry about it.

I have received information about an upcoming animated series for Disney called "Teacher's Pet" that is currently in production in the recording studio. The main characters are a dog named Spot, whose voice will be supplied by Nathan, and a parrot named Pretty Boy with Jerry Stiller providing the speaking voice and David Sabella providing the singing voice. I believe this brings Nathan's animal voice count to four: meerkat, hippopotamus, cat, and dog.

America’s Helping Hands (non-profit organization) gathered 134 famous celebrities and casted their
hands in marble casting stone. These sculptures represent the many wonderful charities of America, from Pediatric AIDS to Zoological
Society. The AHH hopes to find a sponsor to fund a tour of the USA to help promote “Volunteerism” in America. A unique book representing the project is up for auction at eBay. The organization also hopes to offer other products to represent this very interesting project. At left is the photo of Nathan with his sculpture which was done at The Fashion Cafe in NY during the run of Forum. Thanks to Mel Slavick (Sculptor and President of AHH) for providing this information and permission to print the photo. You can visit Mel's website for more information about the project.
