Stuart Little opens today. The film is getting great reviews. Here are some excerpts of comments about Nathan's performance as Snowbell the cat:
NY Times:
What sets the "Stuart Little" franchise above most of the
competition is its emphasis on sharply drawn character and its
profusion of witty remarks (mostly from the mouth of Snowbell) that
are cutting enough to amuse grown-ups without sailing over
children's heads. In "Stuart Little 2," Snowbell has a bigger role
than before, and that's all to the good. Bruce Joel Rubin, who wrote the
screenplay for Part Two, has given this curmudgeonly feline even tangier
quips than M. Night Shyamalan, who wrote the first movie. The relish with
which Mr. Lane expresses his peevish character's quintessential cattiness
makes Snowbell a true comic classic.
Houston Chronicle:
... it reminds us that Nathan Lane is the best show stealer in show
business. He proved it in a brief bit on last spring's Oscar telecast, and
he does so again voicing caustic kitty Snowbell in this sequel to 1999's
Stuart Little.
CitySearch:
The Littles take a backseat to the animated hero, but Lane really
gets a chance to flex his comic chops as the wisecracking
Snowbell.
Salon.com:
As played by Laurie and Davis, his parents are warm and loving in
a storybook way, but the movie knows when they get too sticky,
and that's when Snowbell, the persnickety Persian (whose brilliant
one-liners come to us by way of Nathan Lane), steps in for comic
relief.
Chicago Sun-Times:
Lane does a virtuoso job with Snowbell, the only cat with dialogue
by Damon Runyon.

Army Archerd says Mel says that Nathan and Matthew will go to London with The Producers:
MAKE WAY FOR MEL BROOKS' "The Producers" on the road, in L.A., London
and, of course, in N.Y. Just back from Italy, where he set-sided with
wife Anne Bancroft as she co-starred in Showtime's "The Roman Spring of
Mrs. Stone," Brooks was exuberant as he discussed plans for the road
company of "The Producers" to bow Sept. 10 in Pittsburgh. Co-starring as
Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, respectively, are Lewis Stadlen and Don
Stephenson. ... Brooks praised
Stephenson as being like the Bloom of 30 years ago -- Gene Wilder. Angie
Schnoor plays the statuesque "secretary" Ulla. The L.A. company bows
April 30, and Brooks says he's delighted Jason Alexander and Martin
Short want to play the leads. "They would be marvelous," said Brooks. As
for the original co-stars, Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, Brooks
says they will re-team on the London boards either in December 2003 or
January 2004 for a six-month run …

Reports from the Life of the Party taping are glowing. The show was taped in digital HDTV. The 5-1/2 hour session covered a dozen scenes which worked out (or will, if there's final editing) to the 20-something minute pilot episode. The show sets up ex-TV star, new Senator Charlie Lawrence (Nathan) and his supporting cast, which currently include Regina King, Stephanie Faracy, Ted McGinley, and T.R. Knight.
